My Story

A number of years ago a story started telling itself to me. Characters I had never met began to introduce themselves and insist that I listen to what they had to say. I didn’t know them, but still, they were familiar. Kathleen B. Thomas felt like someone I’d known forever. We had similarities right off the bat, both being teachers, growing up in small communities, and enjoying stopping by the general store for a soft drink and candy bar. Her store is Wagnor’s, mine was Taylor’s. Kathleen finds herself teaching at Summerdale Elementary which is amazingly like the little elementary school I attended, but other than those things and a love of coffee and pizza, our paths went in different directions.

Kathleen introduced me to Elisabeth Avin. I would very much like to think that Elisabeth and I are alike, but though we both have a good recipe for banana bread, I fall short of her faith and character. Then along came fifth grader, Jack Dane, with his head of messy black curls, a dirty spot on his shirt, and a habit of having Dr. Pepper and Snickers bars for breakfast. Mark Wagnor, an old flame of Kathleen's, showed up pretty quickly, along with a host of others. They are interesting and mostly likeable folks. I hope you’ll have the chance to meet them in the pages of my book someday.

Apparently, “wanna-be” published authors in today’s age of social media must have a “platform”. As someone who avoids social media, I find myself completely without "needed platform". However, I've decided this fact should not deter me from pursuing the dream of publishing this story.  I hope to build a platform with the help of friends who are willing to receive an occasional email connecting back to this website and my blog.

Asking you to add one more email might stretch your inbox, but before I can pitch the book, tentatively titled "All Those Little Things” to literary agents, I must demonstrate that I have some way of reaching enough people to make it worth their time to take a chance on me.

Please consider signing up for a weekly email, share this website with your friends and pray alongside me for “All Those Little Things” to become a reality. It is an uplifting story of love, hurt, faith, life, reconciliation and second chances.

Kimberley Farmer is a retired elementary school teacher. She lives with her husband, Bobby, and their dog, Max, a stone's throw from her childhood home. Faith, Family, and Friends occupy her time. The dream of being an author has swirled around in her mind so long she can't even remember when it first originated. Perhaps the dream is coming true. Time will tell.
